The Girls From The Clouds announce they have split.

Trish and Jodi wish to thank all their friends and fans for the support they have been shown over the last 18 months or so. We've appreciated your interest!

Happy New Year!!

The winds are blowing, the waves are heaving, the cattle are lowing and Saturn is turning on its axis, so batten down the hatches and brace yourselves - studio time has been booked and The Girls From the Clouds are embarking on their debut album!  About time??

If you’ve seen The Girls in concert over the last few months you’ll already be familiar with such hits-in-waiting as "Princess Baby", and "I Wish You Love". But wait! There’s more ...!  Jodi, Trish and Tim have decided that enough is more than plenty and waiting this long just because they can’t think of an album title is getting silly. Tim already has his recording outfit planned and although it’s a secret, there are rumours that it will include his famed black socks and white thongs combo. Jodi's ensemble is a little harder to predict, although her signature red jeans seem to be a firm favourite, topped with a pink t-shirt, for shock value. Trish is even harder to second guess, with her blue guitar strap as the only certainty ... unless she uses the black one? Whatever the weather, be sure this lot will be ready. Other treats in store include the songs "Super Boys and Girls", and "The Opposite of Calm". Bring it on!

Saturday 21st October 2006

Jodi and Trish will be hosting a three week residency at the Hopetoun Hotel in Surry Hills this December so put the dates in your diary :-  Sun 3rd, Sun 10th and Sun 17th December and come on down if you live in Sydney. The shows promise to have a party atmosphere as the girls mix their new TGFTC songs with plenty of great memories from their CLOUDS days. There is also talk about an EP to coincide with the shows but we will let you know more about that in a later release.

Latest news from the Trish and Jodi camp.

At their recent show at Sydney's Annandale hotel, Jodi and Trish agreed to answer some questions and here we print the interview in its entirety.

Q: Well, you two, that was an exciting show. How did you feel about it?

J: It was really fun - I wish we had lots more songs to play!
T: It's great having such an appreciative audience, and people already
know the words to the Lalalala songs!

Q: Speaking of Lalalala, can you give us any insider information on the tracks?

T: Well, let's see. Bye Bye Wintertime is pretty much a brand new tune Jodi wrote, obviously about seasonal change, but on another level about looking both forward and backward positively. Saw You, House of the Sun and Sugar and Spice are all older songs that were hanging around from the Clouds days.
J: Beyond the Clouds is about looking forward positively too, along with wishing we could go for a ride in a rocket.
T: Well, the future's getting closer....
J: Sugar and Spice is about wanting to go somewhere too. What's with the travel bug?
T: And House of the Sun is about circumnavigating the globe! I hadn't realised all this before!

The girls start laughing at each other here and we're interrupted by a couple of fans who've bought eps and want the girls to sign them. We resume:

Q: I noticed in your set a re-working of the Clouds' song Say It. What's the story behind that?

J: It was originally written as a slow song and when it got to the
rehearsal room Stu (the drummer at that time) had the idea of speeding it up. When Trish and I have played as a duo we've done the slow version, now we're trying a combination of the two tempos.

Q: And it was a real treat to hear Domino. Tell me, who sang the version that appears on Thunderhead?
Was it a male vocal?

J: It's time we laid that old chestnut to rest. I sang the recorded version and we slowed it down.
T: We were playing around with the varispeed and we all got chills when we heard it, it sounded so right.

Q: So what can we expect next from you two? When's the album?

T: First we're going to put a few live tracks on the website as a free download, while we organise some
time to get together and have a warble.
J: We have this crazy idea we're going to sit together at a piano chewing on pencil stubbs and scribbling
on music paper -
T: Except that we can't write music -
J: Yeah, well that's going to make it interesting.
T: Anyway, we'll be getting on with an album as soon as possible.

Q: Thanks for the chat. See you at the next show!

J and T (in unison): Seeya!
